i learned about francesca woodman in a photo history lecture. she’s an american photographer that basically went into abandoned buildings and photographed herself within those surroundings – while living in providence, and going to RISD. she killed herself at 22 by jumping out of a window in new york. rumor has it, her failed relationship and lack of acceptance of her work led her to make the final plunge. after her death, her work has been widely travelled, exhibited, and published. the images below are some of the photographs from her undergraduate portfolio.

  3. I love this photographer! Irene and I used her work for a presentation on Silva Plath’s “The Bell Jar.” I haven’t seen these photos in so long.
