some people are elitists about musicians they like that sell out. but here’s the deal – don’t be unrealistic. people steal music, and that’s just the way it is. so now that we’re starting to notice more artists selling shitty products in commercials, you can’t really blame them. you can’t say they sold out, because you’re the reason they’re selling products they don’t believe in. chances are, you’re a vulture and you steal your music online. everybody does it, and it’s been going on since i was just a little baby cantastical. but for every file-sharing album swap that we internet-hawks participate in, we push capitalist consumerism to a new level. i’m not saying this negatively. it’s just the way it is. we’re enablers, and no matter what we do.. that’s just the way it’s gonna be. so instead of being an elitist about it “your music” selling out, just be happy that you can hear the music you like more frequently. it’s your fault anyway. mine too. but hey man, everybody needs to make a dollar here and there. here are some notably awesome musicians that are doin’ it:
ingrid michaelson and old navy present “the way i am”
the brazillian girls give it up for a gross looking blackberry.
architecture in helsinki is all over sprint’s airways.
and this girl is awesome. yael naim and macbook’s new air commercial.
of all the videos i just posted, this is the one to watch. yael naim is seemingly psychotic in an alanis morisette kind of way, but fresh in a brilliant-female-songwriter style like i haven’t heard since regina spektor. watch this, and you’ll know what i’m sayin’.
